Govt. to set up Sports University: Senate informed

Islamabad: The Senate was informed on Monday that the government is working to set up Sports University for promotion of sports activities in the country.

Concluding the discussion on National Sports Policy, Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada said funds would be allocated for the University in the next budget. He said different sports related programmes and courses will be started in other Universities of the country.

He said international coaches and trainers will be invited to groom the national players as per international standards. Riaz Hussain Pirzada said a fund has been set up for the welfare of the veteran players. He said the government has also sent different players to other countries for training in a number of fields.
