’Govt trying to make city peaceful’

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Monday said the government was trying to make Karachi a peaceful, clean and green city.

“Organising Karachi Day to make Karachi peaceful and beautiful is a good effort for the future of the city,” he said while addressing as a chief guest at Karachi Day event organized by I am Karachi.

He formally announced celebrating Karachi Day on every second Sunday of March. He signed mutual agreements with I am Karachi.

Thousands of people pledged at the event to make the city peaceful and clean and the people who would be found in negative activities would be pressurized to stop through conducts.

“This day has got significance as citizens today have expressed determination for the development and improvement of the city, which would boost the power of withstanding in people and establish friendly and loving environment in society,” he said.

Siddiqui said NGOs like I am Karachi had strengthened the efforts of the government to make the city peaceful other organizations should also follow suit.

The participants of the event organized by I am Karachi held a peace walk along the beach, cleaned roads and organized sports events in different areas of the city.
