Health dept concerns on sponsored foreign tours of govt doctors

KARACHI: Provincial Health authorities have expressed concern on government doctors’ foreign tours, sponsored by multinational pharmaceutical companies.

According to a press note issued by health department Sindh, it has been observed with great concern that there is a strong tendency among the government doctors to attend international medical conferences and go on foreign tours after soliciting sponsorship from various multinational pharmaceutical firms. This comes within the conflict of interest and calls for disciplinary proceedings against the public servants soliciting such favours.

In this regard all medical officers/consultants have been directed not to avail such offers from the multinational pharmaceutical firms for such tours abroad.

All Reporting Officers have also been directed not to forward such applications to Health Department. Strict compliance of the order is instructed.
