Health minister concerns over increasing polio cases in KPK, FATA

Peshawar: Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar has expressed concern over increase of polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and FATA.

Talking to newsmen here Monday, she said 90 percent high risk Union Councils (UCs) belonged to these areas. She said the federal government was providing vaccine and payment to the EPI staff in time.

She said UAE is supporting Pakistan in elimination of polio. The minister said that besides security risk, the issue of governance and accountability were also creating hurdles in elimination of polio.

She asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to lead anti-polio campaign in KPK where PTI is in power.
