LARKANA: Health Secretary, Government of Sindh, Dr. Saeed Mangnejo, has taken serious notice of illegal electricity and Sui gas connections in health facilities throughout Sindh province. In yet another letter, he has instructed the Medical Superintendents, District Health Officers and other officials throughout the province to maintain hygienic conditions through 100% cleanliness in hospitals.
In the letter addressed to all the DDOs, Dr. Mangnejo emphasized that during his visits to three divisions of Sindh recently, he observed poor state of hygiene and cleanliness everywhere which has become counter productive to patients and other population.
He said cleanliness and maintenance of hygienic environment in the hospitals is the foremost requirement, and without this, all efforts for treatment of patients will not be productive in terms of prognosis and rehabilitation. He directed the officials to maintain 100% cleanliness and hygiene within the premises of hospitals and offices with immediate effect, and in case of negligence, it will be treated as misconduct.
In another letter, Dr Mangnejo said that he had received many complaints regarding the illegal electricity connections and other utilities within the premises of health facilities, which are resulting in huge illegal losses of power and putting a heavy burden of liabilities upon the budget of health facilities, ultimately on national exchequer.
He directed all the administrative officers to get all the illegal electricity and Sui gas connections and other utilities removed.
Mangnejo further asked them to submit a certificate to him by stating that there is no unlawful utility connection or facility within the premises of all healthcares within 15 days positively.
Reliable sources told that all residential colonies of doctors and lower staff are using government electricity in Chandka Medical College & Hospital where Sindh government has so far failed to install meters at their doors.
