Hospital employees hold protest demo

KARACHI: The employees of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) on Monday staged a protest demonstration against hospital administration for evacuating them from their residential quarters and demanded of the provision of alternate residence to them.

The protesters gathered outside the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and blocked the Rafiqui Shaheed Road for some time.

The protesters said new hospital has directed the lower staff to vacate their quarters till 31st August 2015 as administrated wanted to expend the hospital. They said hospital administrator could not provide alternate houses to them.

They said uncertainty prevails amongst employees who have been living with their families in these quarters since long. They urged the hospital administration to withdraw this decision or provide alternate housing facilities to them.

Executive Administrative Officer, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Dr Hameed Ullah Malik when contacted said these residential quarters will be demolished to build new blocks in the hospital as per its new master plan in order to provide stat-of-the-art heart treatment facilities to the patients.

He said an importing meeting will be held on Tuesday (today) in which the administration will chalk out their future plan of action.
