Ibrahim clinches junior tennis tourney title

Karachi: Ibrahim Iltifat dropped a set before beating Asad Khan in the summit clash in U-18 singles event of 7th PTF Development Series Juniors National Ranking Tennis Championship, which concluded here Tuesday at Union Club Tennis Courts.

Ibrahim Iltifat won the first set 6-2 but Asad levelled the arrears winning the second set by identical 6-2 score. In the third and decisive set, top seeded Ibrahim after a thrilling encounter won the set in tie-breaks recording a 6-2, 2-6, 10-5 victory to annex the title to his name.

In Under16 singles final, Hassan Farooq recorded a straight set triumph against Amin Shafi winning the match by 6-2, 7-5 score.

However, Amin Shafi also claimed a title on the day after he defeated Osama Khan by 6-2, 6-3 score in U-14 singles climax.

In U-12 singles final, Farzan Ahmed defeated Abdullah Ahmedani by 8-6 score.

In Men’s singles final clash, Fahad Khan recovered from a set down to beat youngster Ibrahim Iltifat by 2-6, 6-1, 10-6 score.

In U-18 doubles final, the pair of Ibrahim Iltifat and Asad Khan overpowered Nazif Ahmed and Dawar Rehan duo by 8-2 score.

In U-10 singles final, Zain Mohammad Ali thrashed Mohammad Ahmed Ahmadani by 8-1 score. In ladies singles final, Rida Khan defeated Syeda Erij Batool Zaidi.
