Karachi: International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK), has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Benin, Nigeria.
The MoU has been signed with an objective to further enhance mutual collaborative activities between both the countries in various fields of sciences. The MoU was signed through postal service. Director ICCBS-UoK Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary and Vice–Chancellor University of Benin Prof. O.G. Oshodin signed the MoU on behalf of their institutions.
According to an official of the ICCBS, “The University of Benin is an established University, which strives to enhance and strengthen its teaching and research capacities, and has taken various initiatives to complement its educational excellence and has entered into various collaborative agreements with other parties to enhance its research in medicinal plants and drug discovery programs. Conversely, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi is regarded as one of the finest academic research establishments of chemical sciences in the developing world.”
As per MoU, it was agreed that exchange of research staff and facilities will take place between both the institutions. Moreover it was agreed that a joint research project will also be carried out in which exchange of research material such as voucher samples and natural product extracts will take place. This will develop linkages between academicians and researchers. This agreement will be effective for a period of five years from the date of signing. This MoU may be terminated by either party by prior written notice.
