KARACHI: A meeting was held here at Central Police Office under the chairmanship of Inspector General Of Police Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali. It was attended by Additional IG Research & Development Syed Zakir Husain, Additional IG Traffic Khadim Hussain Bhatti, Additional IG Special Branch A.D.Khwaja, Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Ahmad Mehar, DIG Traffic Hyderabad Ghulam Sarwar Jamali, DIG RRF/HQtrs Dr Ameen Yousuf Zai and other senior police officers.
The meeting discussed at length various reforms and measures in order to ensure better utilization of available resources and to make policing more effective. The prime thrust of the meeting was to uphold good governance in the police department and to promote community policing.
IGP Sindh constituted two different committees to prepare report on the existing resources and to recommend even use of arms & ammunitions and other resources. He also directed officials to prepare stock position of arms & ammunitions and ensure its distribution and supply as per needs of the police stations.
The meeting noted that it was essential to provide necessary arms & ammunitions, vehicles and manpower to police stations. “All out efforts must be ensured to strengthen and to equip every police station with the required manpower and resources.
Police station is the basic unit of policing; therefore, adequate resources must be made available,” he added. The meeting also discussed availability of prisoners’ vans and ambulances at the districts level, besides having latest equipments and gadgets for operational and investigation purposes.
He directed Additional IGPs of Special Branch, Karachi and CTD to prepare mutually discussed working paper identifying the logistics & advanced technology based gadgets and vehicles as per the requirements. IG further directed Additional IG Karachi and Range DIGs to devise a mechanism for monitoring the performance of police officers and personnel and to prepare and submit a monthly report in this regard.
