IGP given report on targeted operation

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali has instructed the police officers to ensure achievements of overall goals by maintaining the law and order situation and protect the life and properties of people and take all out measures so that target operations and crackdowns against the criminal elements should be accelerated.

According to the report, presented to the police chief in result of ongoing targeted operation, police conducted 43757 raids and 2483 police encounters in different areas of Karachi, and arrested 45300 criminals crime and recovered arms from their possession.

Jamali was informed that during the targeted operation in 519 days 1433 gangs were busted in the city.

Those arrested by the police included 1443 criminal involved in killings, 502 in terrorism, 108 in kidnapping for ransom, 473 in extortion, 8972 in possessing illegal weapon, 7223 in possessing drugs. However, 583 wanted criminals and 7990 absconders, and 15677 other criminals involved in different crimes were also arrested.

He was informed that four LMGs, 243 Kalashnikovs, 10661 pistols, 191 rifles, 173 short guns, 456 Kg explosive material, nine Improved Explosive Device (IEDs), 11 suicide jackets and 18 hand grenades were also recovered from their possession.
