IGP orders controlling highway robberies

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Iqbal Mehmood on Thursday ordered DIGs to ensure the implementation of the joint strategy action plan for ending highway robberies to protect life and property of passengers.

Taking notice of media reports, he asked them conduct survey of highways affected by robberies, adjacent towns and villages along highways and sends report so that action could be taken against the criminals.

Mehmood said that responsibilities have already been assigned to police officers and cops at police check-posts along highways to protect them. He asked to restore the check-posts in non-inhabited areas.

IGP specially said that during the highways patrolling and checking any negligence would not be tolerated and legal action would be taken against related officials.
