IGP orders foolproof security

KARACHI: Inspector General of police (IGP) Ghulam Haider Jamali on Wednesday has cancelled leaves for policemen and ordered to ensure foolproof security in Muharam.

He said while chairing a meeting at Central Police Office (CPO). Recommendations of suspending mobile services and banning pillion riding were also mulled over.

IGP directed to police to ensure strict security in Muharram and prepare police station level plans for security. All police stations would be responsible to prepare lists of rallies in their areas and provide them security and install surveillance cameras on the routes of the rallies and venues of congregations.

He said loudspeaker act should strictly be implemented and wall-chalking should be removed. Action be taken against distribution of provocative material including pamphlets, banners and audio of video CDs and legal action be taken against the violators.
