IGP orders security for citizens

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Iqbal Mehmood instructed police personnel to use available resources and professional skills to ensure security to the life and property of the citizens while demonstrating exceptional performance and establishing law and order.

Addressing Police Durbar in Police Headquarter Garden on Sunday, he said that police personnel should perform their duties on police-mobiles and motorcycles in proper uniform. He said that in sensitive areas affected by crime, police should adopt possible precautions.

Mehmood said that intelligence collection should be upgraded at police station level. He said that steps were being taken to allocate funds for upgrading infrastructure of police stations and take measures to ensure working environment in police stations.

He said that special attention was being paid for improving intelligence collection, surveillance monitoring, formal registration of FIR and cases proceedings in the courts. He said that in this regards, new courses were also included in police training curriculum.

Mehmood said that request is being made to Sindh government to increase the salaries of police personnel. He said that a mega proposal was under consideration in terms of official residence for police force.

He ordered DIG Headquarters Sindh to send recommendations based on regular analysis for starting buses from different places of the city for picking and dropping police personnel.

IGP said that a Police Cadet College is being established for the children of police martyrs and low-income police employees. He said that Police Hospital Garden is being upgraded for standard medical care.
