IGP orders security for media houses, staff

KARACHI: In view of an attack on a private TV channel in Islamabad, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali on Thursday issued directives to officials concerned to ensure extraordinary security measures for the protection of electronic and print media offices and their workers and journalists.

According to a statement issued by police, IGP directed officials to ensure the security of journalists community. IGP instructed SHOs and SSPs concerned to take security measures for journalists, cameramen, photographers and others media workers in Sindh.

He further directed that the police mobiles and motorcycles patrolling and snap checking should be expedited in the surroundings of media offices. He said that security situation should be maintained and the lives of citizens should protected. The report should be submitted on a daily basis about crimes, he said.
