IGP orders strict security for polio campaign

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali on Monday instructed police officers to ensure strict and extraordinary security measures in areas, especially in sensitive union councils during polio immunization campaign.

It is pertinent to mention here that polio teams would vaccinate the children in house to house in Karachi including other cities, towns, villages, union councils of Sindh on 15 November 2014.

Jamali said in view of strict security measures during polio vaccination, contact with health department Sindh and the members of Chief Minister Polio committee should be ensured so as to take every possible protective measures for foolproof security of health workers, doctors, volunteers deployed for polio immunization, other stakeholders and citizens.

He said in addition to deploy extra contingent of police, the steps should be taken in regard with assigning responsibility to police commandoes, while contacts should be made with intelligence agencies and polio campaign should made successful through strategy and plan.
