IGP reviews by-poll security plan

KARACHI: IGP Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali has directed police to ensure finalization of security plan for bye- election in NA-246 contituency after co-ordination meeting with Pakistan Rangers & due consultation with the Sindh Election Commissioner.

He issued the directive while presiding over a high-level meeting reviewing in detail the security plan for the bye-election at CPO. The meeting was attended by AIGP Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo; DIsG of H/Q, RRF, Traffic, Special Branch, SRP, CIA & Zonal DIsG; District SSsP and AIG Operation Sindh.

According to the preliminary security plan prepared by DIG West Zone, Feroz Shah more than 5500 police personne, including five SSsP, nine DSPs and 18 SHO/Inspector would be deployed. Fifty-five buildings have been identified for roof top deployment. APCs/bullet proof vehicles would be placed at all identified flash points. Anti-riots platoons equipped with anti right kits would remain on standby at the convenient nearest places.

IGP Sindh directed for deployment of RRF & SSU Commandos for the security purposes. He further directed to ensure the security rehearsal well before the deployment of police personnel. He also directed AIG Karachi to convene a meeting before the deployment of police personnel to let them know about their responsibilities so that no lapse is noticed. IGP stressed the need for the deployment of lady police personnel as well.
