Implementation of advertisement bylaws

KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has given approval of implementation of advertisement bylaws under the resolution of elected city council. Action under E&D rules will be taken in case of violation of these rules.

Earlier, the memorandum presented by the metropolitan commissioner to the administrator stated that undisciplined advertisement in the city had resulted in putting adverse effect on the main corridors and these have undergone changes due to the installation of hoardings and billboards of all sizes which also had created traffic and other problems for the citizens.

KMC elected council through its resolution No 330 dated 24th June 2003 and resolution No 114 dated December 2006 had approved the amendments in the advertisement bylaws which had covered all the rules and regulations regarding advertisement, therefore these bylaws should be implemented now.

Administrator Karachi, while exercising his powers conferred upon him by the Sindh government, gave approval of this resolution. Meanwhile, the local taxes department had been directed to ensure implementation of bylaws with regard to advertisement hoardings and billboards as approved by the elected city council.
