Independence Day Cup Open Golf Championship begins today

Karachi: The sixth edition of Independence Day Cup Open Golf Championship begins here at DHA Country and Golf Club today (Thursday).

DHA Country and Golf Club in collaboration with Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) and Sindh Golf Association (SGA) is organizing this tournament.

Around three hundred golfers from all over the country will be seen in action during the four-day event. The tournament offers a lucrative prize purse of Rs two million. Rs 1.7 million will be distributed among the professional category while remaining Rs 300,000 will be rewarded to top senior professional players.

Top national golfer Shabbir Iqbal, Matloob Ahmed, Muhammad Munir and many others will be seen in action during the four-day event.

On the first day, amateur and ladies’ events would be competed. The professionals and senior professionals will run from August 22 to 24.

The tournament also offers Toyota Altis 1.8 worth Rs 2.2 million for the golfer scoring rare hole-in-one shot.
