Peshawar: Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pukhtunkhwa said on Thursday inquiries against former provincial ministers are underway and on the completion of inquiries references would be filed against them.
Talking to media at Islamia College University DG NAB Naeem Irfan Mangi said Inquiry against former provincial minister for minerals Nawabzada Mehmood Zeb and Azam Khan Hoti are underway for their alleged misuse of authority and ‘corruption’.
NAB is working on 180 inquiries and investigating 25 cases of corruption therefore huge some of public money which is being embezzled would be recovered of the corrupt people. in 2014 we have recovered 110 million through arrest of accused involved in mega scams” he said adding that many high rank officials have been put behind bars in weapon scandal.
Defending the plea bargain law, DG NAB said it does not mean that the accused who will return the actual amount along with fine would be declared white and clear rather the person released through plea bargain would not be eligible for any public office for ten years.
Earlier addressing the students of Islamia College DG NAB said youth should rise their voice against the corrupt elements and instead of giving honour to corrupt people society should change its behaviour with them and not treat them as honourable people.
If youth, he said start playing their role one day Pakistan would become corruption free otherwise this practice would further damage Pakistan and future of the coming generation would be bleak. ” you have to stand up against the corrupt elements and refuse to get any personal benefits to keep silence over national loss,” he said.
Student of Islamia College University took part in debate competition on the subject of ” role of youth in eradication of corruption” in which Muzammil was declared best debater in Urdu and Zawar Wali got first position in English debate.
Chairman Pushto Academy Abaseen Yousafzai, Dr Salim Bacha registrar of Islami College University and Mohammad Tariq of NAB KPK were also present on the occasion. later students and DG NAB hold a walk to create awareness against corruption.
