Islamabad’s Model Colleges abolish evening shift

ISLAMABAD: Evening shifts have been abolished in five model schools and colleges of the federal capital and the students of evening shifts would be accommodated in morning sessions of these schools and colleges.

The model schools/colleges, where evening shifts have been abolished include- IMCB H-8 and IMCB H-9. IMCB I-8/3, IMCB F-10/3 and IMCB G11/1 would abolish the evening shifts this week and students of evening shifts would be accommodated in morning sessions of these schools/colleges.

According to Minister of State Barrister Usman Ibrahim of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), the process of abolishing evening shifts in model colleges was gradually taking place, as it was not the matter of a day or two.

Chairing a follow up meeting on changing evening shifts to morning sessions at CADD on Thursday, the minister also directed the officials to prepare PC-I to construct additional classrooms for the evening shifts’ students, in the available space in the rest of the 15 model colleges and submit it to the ministry next week for the approval.

Survey has been conducted and feasibility report has already been prepared for it. Moreover acquiring land for building new model colleges in new sectors namely G-13, G-14 and G-15 is also in the pipeline, the minister said.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary CADD, Joint Secretary CADD, Director Model Colleges, Director Colleges, and Assistant Education Adviser.
