RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa has said that terrorists’ gang involved in Army Public School Peshawar attack has been smashed.
Briefing the newsmen here on Thursday, he said nine out of 27 terrorists involved in the attack on Army School have been eliminated. He said six terrorists involved in the attack were apprehended from Pakistan while six from Afghanistan.
He said two more culprits, including Mulla Fazlullah and Umar Ameer are still in Afghanistan and both Pakistan and Afghanistan are constantly sharing intelligence and they will be arrested or eliminated soon.
He said that APS attack was carried out on the directions of Mulla Fazlullah, who selected Umar Ameer to supervise the attack. He said six suicide bombers were selected for this purpose. Other terrorists involved in this attack included Commander Asif alias Haji Kamran, Commander Atiq-ur-Rehman, Kaif Qari, Mudassir, Taj, Misbah, Hazrat Ali, Sabeel alias Yahya, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Saddam, Khurshid and Jabbani, he added.
He said one of the facilitators also included an Imam Masjid who hosted three attackers for a night near APS Peshawar. To a question, the ISPR chief said over2000 terrorists have so far been killed in operations Zarb-e-Azb and Khyber-One.
He said 226 army personnel were martyred and 823 injured. He said most parts of North Waziristan and Khyber Agencies have been cleared except a couple of small pockets along Afghanistan borders.
Replying to a question, the ISPR Director-General said the gang busted had linkages with other incidents of terrorism including in Rawalpindi, Peshawar Meena Bazar attack and attacks at Tarnol and at an Imambargah in Peshawar area. He said intelligence sharing and coordination between Pakistan and Afghanistan is improving.
He said it was not possible for a local terrorist organization to operate without external support and funding. He said Indian involvement in Balochistan and FATA is known. He appealed to the world community to extend whole hearted support to Pakistan for eliminating the terrorists. He made it clear that government, the armed forces and security agencies are resolved to eliminate terrorism once for all. About military courts, he said at present there are nine courts and they have received 12 cases of hard core terrorists for trial.
