KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday extended the physical remand of an accused, Ubaid alias K2, to police custody for one-day in a murder of deputy superintendent Jail.
Police produced the accused before the ATC judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court to extend the physical remand of the accused to their custody as he was further required for investigation. The court accepted the police request and extended the physical remand of the accused for one-day.
The Investigation officer submitted that initially K2 was arrested in explosives and illegal weapons cases but during the interrogation he disclosed his involvement in the other murder cases as well as murder of Amanullah Khan Niazi.
According to the prosecution, deputy superintendent of central jail Karachi Amanullah Khan Niazi, his brother Habibullah Niazi and three guards were gunned down in Karachi in the year 2006 when unknown assailants who attacked them on 15 June 2006.
Ubaid K2 was among the suspects arrested by rangers from MQM headquarters, Nine-Zero on 11 March 2015.
