JAPANESE AMBASSADOR CALLS ON PRESIDENT

Islamabad:,,, Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Hiroshi Inomata Tuesday called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Pakistan- Japan bilateral relations with focus on promoting trade and investment ties between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

The President said that Pakistan accords great importance to its relations with Japan and considers Japan as an important friend and development partner.

Commenting on government’s efforts for economic development, the President said that the present Government has focused on creating sustained economic growth that would result in the overall well-being and progress of the people of Pakistan, adding that the government would welcome the support and assistance of Japan in this regard.

He invited Japanese investors to invest in Pakistan and avail the liberal incentive packages being offered by the present government to the foreign investors.

The President expressed satisfaction to note that bilateral trade between our two countries is witnessing upward trajectory, he however, said that there still exists a vast potential of bilateral trade and investment on both sides which must be utilized for mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.

The President stated that Pakistan looks forward to greater level of cooperation between the two countries, particularly, in the areas of trade, investment, development, security, energy, institution building and capacity building.

The President remarked that Pakistan highly value Japan’s ongoing assistance in various projects aimed at the socio- economic development of Pakistan and appreciated the Japan’s interest in Karachi Circular Railway project and Underground Metro Systems in Karachi and Lahore.

The President said that Pakistan was looking forward to the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Shinzo Abe, which he said would help complement efforts on both sides to further diversify and expand bilateral relations.

Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Hiroshi Inomata thanked the President for meeting and re-iterated commitment of the Japanese Government to further cementing ties between the two governments and its people.
