JI demands paying salaries to KMDC, ASH doctors

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Amir Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has expressed concern over the alarming situations at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) and its affiliated Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC), where faculty members and house officers have been deprived of their salaries for several months.

In a statement on Saturday, the JI leader demanded of the Sindh government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to release the salaries of staffers and faculty members in both institutions, immediately.

He also asked those in corridors of powers to take solid steps on war footing bases to address the issue of delayed salaries once and for all.

Engr. Naeem was of the view that delaying salaries is tantamount to denying basic rights of employees. He said that an acute sense of deprivation, as well as insecurity, is prevailing among the honourable faculty members and those staffers, serving the humanity in the hospital.

He also praised the role of those employees discharging their duties just for sake of humanity, despite the sheer unjust behaviour by the authorities.

The JI leader expressed his sorrow that even meals are not available for patients at the hospital and said that it is felt that the government has criminally neglected the KMDC and the ASH.
