JI demands SC verdict implementation

Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami JI has welcomed the Supreme Court SC verdict about the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in rental power plants corruption case.

Addressing a press conference at Idara Noore Haq here on Tuesday, JI Karachi chapter Amir Muhammad Hussain Mehanti hailed the SC verdict and demanded its immediate implementation in letter and spirit.

He opined that the army should refrain from taking any unconstitutional step in the larger interest of the nation. He said the SC verdict reflected the sentiments of Pakistani people. He said that impartial probe should be imitated against all accused involved in corruption cases.

He further added the government has failed to deliver, adding it has only given poverty, unemployment and inflation to people.

Mehanti said the target killing incidents have been on the rise in Karachi. He reminded that chief a Karachi based political party had threatened political and religious leaders who had attended the Difa-e-Pakistan Council DPC moot. In this regard he cited the target killing of Hakim Mehmood Ahmed Barkati and firing on Mumtaz Farooqui, former councillor of Liaquatabad Town. “Sindh Governor and Chief Minister are responsible of carrying target killing incidents in the city”, he alleged.
