Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanded of the provincial and federal governments to ensure provision of basic necessities to the industrial zones of Karachi.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Hafiz Naeem expressed deep concerns over the non-availability of basic necessities including water, gas, electricity and public transport to the industrial zones of Karachi.

He stressed upon the authorities to take effective steps in order to resolve these issues, as the industrial zones of the city could not be run properly without the resolution them. He termed the absence of basic necessities to the industrial zones a sheer apathy of the government.

Hafiz Naeem further said that industrial zones in different areas including SITE, Federal B Area, Landhi, Korangi, North Karachi and Bin Qasim contribute a lot to the national exchequer. However; the absence of basic facilities in these industrial zones depicts bad governance.

He demanded that the government should take effective measures in order to eliminate extortionists. He said it is now an open secret that around 250 people were burnt alive in the Baldia garment factory on refusal to pay extortion.
