JI for better healthcare facilities in rural areas

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh chapter amir Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui on Saturday expressed reservations over the death of innocent children in Thar due to negligence of Sindh government and condemned it for creating lack of medical facilities in the rural areas.

He demanded of the Sindh government that instead of taking cosmetic measures, government should realize the seriousness of the situation and take solid measures on permanent basis so that the innocent children could be prevented from deaths.

In a statement he said that 140 children died in Khairpur, the native town of Chief Minister Sindh in last three months. However, dozens of children have died in last few weeks in Thar which is the proof of the government’s apathy. He said according to media report, 1600 children died in last four years due to the negligence of bureaucracy.

He said that the government should provide proper treatment facilities in the government hospitals, instead of handing them over to NGOs and further increasing the corruption.

He said instead of improving its governance, the government is criticizing the media which is very sad. He emphasized that notice on the deaths of children should be taken and serious measures adopted against the lack of medical facilities and acute malnutrition in Thar.
