JI rigged LG polls, allege opponents

KARACHI: Union council level leaders of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam- Fazl (JUI-F) and Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday levelled allegations on Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) of rigging LB polls in UC-04, Metroville on Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) during a press conference at Karachi Press Club (KPC).

Ali Ahmed from PPP, Usman Ghani from ANP, Zahir Shah Agha from PML-N and Mohammad Nawaz Azad from JUI-F addressing the joint press conference alleged that JI candidate for chairman slot, Abdul Samad, won the polls through rigging in UC-04. They alleged that RO Site fully supported the JI candidate. They alleged that in their constituency their banners and posters were torn and removed while JI’s banners and posters are still intact.

They also alleged that Abdul Samad rigged and won the election with help of government machinery and government officials. They charged that the JI men beat up the polling agents of other parties and a woman polling agent was injured on the polling day.

They demanded that election commission of Pakistan to order re-polling in UC-04.
