KARACHI: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islmai (JI) Karachi chapter Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said on Saturday that JI Karachi will observe a sit-in on 18 August 2015 at Mazar-e-Quiad in favor Chingchi and CNG rickshaw owners, as the ban on these rickshaws has affected income of a large number of families and also deprived commuters from public transport facilities.
He said JI supports people’s rights and hate excesses of police. He said it is the government’s responsibility to resolve their issues and give them time to regularize their three-wheelers. He said this is not only a court issue but also an issue affecting a large number of people and their children.
Hafiz Naeem expressed his views in a ‘Jirga gathering’ held at JI headquarters Idara Noor-ul-Haq where a large number of people belonging Chingchi and CNG rickshaw profession participated.
He announced that an action committee will be formed to deal with problem and the committee will decide the next course of action. It was demanded in meeting that the confiscated rickshaws should be released.
He said they are contacting with government to get the issue resolved on humanitarian basis.
