Karachi Aman Sports Festival begins with 18 varsities

KARACHI: Different sports teams of 18 universities are participating in the four-day sports festival All Karachi Aman Sports Festival that has kicked off on Tuesday at NED University. It will last until Sept 18.

The sports festival has been organized by Commissioner Karachi Youth Team (CKYT) in cooperation with NED University Sports Committee.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said the purpose of holding the event was to promote peace through sports activities. Members of CKYT themselves belonged to different universities and they were performing different social and welfare duties in the city to provide youth chance for positive activities.

The festival was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor NED University Dr Afzal Haq at 11:00am in the morning. All the events will be held in Sports Complex of NED University. The games include cricket, football, table tennis, volley ball, throw ball, bodybuilding and squash.

The participating universities include NED University, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Iqra University, Indus University, NUST University, Bahria University, Karachi University, Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology, TIPS, Dow Medical University, Institute of Business Management, Sir Syed University, FAST, Karachi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Dr Ziauddin University and Baqai Medical University.
