Karachi faces transport shortage

KARACHI: President Karachi Transport Action Committee (KTAC) Mohammad Ashraf Banglori on Sunday opposed the Singh government’s transport department’s recommendation seeking ban on four and eight seater rickshaws in Karachi and said that the city was already facing shortage of public transport and said that citizens had already been compelled to travel on the roofs of buses.

He said that the government had neither provided transport facilities nor had planned to improve the transport system. In this situation, government should be careful about ban on any transport.

Banglori said that the government had reduced rickshaws and taxis fares but no action was taken to reduce transport fares yet.
