Karachi Intermediate Board cruises into All-Pakistan tourney semis

Karachi: Karachi Intermediate Board overwhelmed Karachi Secondary Board by 24 runs in a thrilling quarterfinal match in All Pakistan Inter-Board T20 Cricket Championship played here at RLCA Gulberg on Wednesday.

Batting first, Karachi Intermediate Board put on board a competitive total of 150-9 in stipulated 20 overs. Zubair Dilawar (39 runs) and Mohammad Ali (37 runs) batted well. Mohammad Akif returned with bowling figures of 3-34.

In reply, Karachi Secondary Board scored 126 runs before losing all of their wickets. Obaidullah Khan (33 runs) was the top scorer for the side. Fahaddis Bukhari bowled lethally and captured a four-wicket haul giving away only 13 runs.

Earlier in another quarterfinal encounter, BISE Faisalabad easily beat Gujranwala by six wickets at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium. BISE Gujranwala batted first and lost all of its wickets with a modest total of 110 runs on board.

ISE Faisalabad reeled off the required runs with six wickets in hand. Afzal scored 35 for the winning team. They will face Karachi Intermediate Board in the semifinal today (Thursday) at RLCA Gulberg.

In the third match of the day, Multan beat BISE Islamabad by five wickets. Islamabad making first use of the wicket made 164 for 9 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Asif Saqib (48 runs) and Adeel Khan (31 runs) batted well for the side.

Multan batted well with Salman Shareef scoring 52 and Abdullah falling short of only three runs to complete his half-century also. However, the duo helped their team record a victory chasing a big total on board.
