SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, clashes were held between the youth and the Indian forces near the venue of ‘Big Kashmir Marathon’ in Srinagar on Sunday.
The youth chanted pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans, and raised Pakistan’s flag. Police and paramilitary forces resorted to baton-charge and fired teargas shells on the protesters. Several protestors were injured.
The twenty-one-kilometre marathon was to begin from Naseem Bagh at Kashmir University and go along Dal Lake. Meanwhile, veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement, said India knows that the Kashmiris love Pakistan.
He said the Kashmiris will continue their struggle for their right to self-determination until the objective is achieved.
He lauded the support of the government and the people of Pakistan for Kashmir cause. Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Pulwama district on Sunday against the killing of a local youth.
