Killed bandits were bank robbers: police

KARACHI: The bandits who were killed by Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police on Thursday were involved in nine bank robberies during last four years in different areas of the metropolis.

According to SSP SIU Farooq Awan, police killed two bandits in an encounter, identified as Arsalan and Dilawar, who had looted three banks during current year with the help of their gang.

They had looted Allied Bank on 08th January, 2016, in jurisdiction of Awami Colony police station, JS Bank on 20th January, 2016, in jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Johar police station and another branch of JS Bank on 28th January, 2016 in jurisdiction of Sachal police station.

They looted five banks in 2013, UBL Bank on 11st January, in jurisdiction of Paposh Nagar police station, Allied Bank on 08th February, in jurisdiction of PECHS Society police station, again looted the same bank on 2nd August, and also looted another branch of Allied Bank in Bahadurabad.

They looted only one bank in 2012, the Bank Alfalah in Defence Society. They looted more than Rs17 million in all these robberies.
