Kissan Package be implemented in Sindh: Siddiqui

KARACHI: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh, Dr Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui said on Sunday that Kissan Package announced by Prime minister Nawaz Sharif should be implemented in Sindh forthwith and the government should fix sugarcane price at Rs 182 per maund for betterment of agriculture sector and welfare of farmers.

A delegation of growers from interior Sindh, led by President Sindh Growers Board Raees Abdul Majeed Nizamani called on Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui at Quba Auditorium in the metropolis and discussed problems facing the growers community across Sindh. Mumtaz Hussain Sehto, Mujahid Channa and other leaders of JI were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the joint press conference there, Siddiqui said that crops in Sindh had been facing losses for many years. Instead of providing relief to farmers, the government is facilitating investors, while PM’s Kissan Package could still not be enforced in Sindh province.

Siddiqui assured growers that JI will stand with them in their struggle for their due rights.

Nizamani said that Sindh government hade exploited the growers and facilitated the capitalists. Sugar mills are purchasing the sugarcane at less rates, while the government had failed to provide a reasonable price of sugarcane to the growers.
