KMC demolishes another 30 houses at Gujjar nullah

KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) anti encroachments squad with the help of heavy machinery on Thursday demolished at least 20 concrete houses that had been built on the route of drain and creating obstacles in the flow of water.

“The removal of these structures paved the way for cleaning of the drain through heavy machinery which was not possible before,” said KMC spokesperson.

The resistance from cohorts of encroachments mafia was soon foiled by the police on this occasion as many buffalo forms, animal fodder shops and other illegal shops were also demolished by the anti-encroachments officials.

A camp was also setup in the remit of district central to register the complains in this connection, whereas concerned authorities have decided to carry on removal of encroachments at Gujjar nullah till the completion of drain cleaning work which has been started now with the help of machinery.

The anti-encroachments operation at Gujjar nullah was monitored and supervised by the deputy commissioner of district central Afzal Zaidi along the senior director land and anti-encroachments in the presence of other officers.
