KARACHI: With the start of cleanliness campaign launched by Minister for Local Government Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon on Monday, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has sped up its drive against encroachments and unnecessary hoardings in the city.
KMC officials removed over 400 such hoardings at Clifton Flyover and Boat Basin, whereas, the anti encroachments department of KMC during its action on Preedy Street, Mansfield Street, Dawoodpota Road, Shara-e-Iraq and around Saddar Parking Plaza removed over 100 cabins, patharas, pushcarts and other things, which were established on pavement and alongside roads, and deposited these items in the Mehmoodabad store.
The campaign against encroachments is a part of the ongoing ‘green & clean city’ campaign which is aimed at making the city clean and encroachments-free.
Director Anti-encroachments Mazhar Khan said the campaign against encroachments would continue till the removal of all sorts of encroachments. He said the action in the Saddar and adjoining roads would continue for two to three days.
Assistant Commissioner South Sajjad Abro, DSP and SHO of Preedy police station and heavy contingent of police force took part in the campaign.
