KMC old record gutted in fire

KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) old record turned into ashes as fire caught KMC headquarters record room due to negligence of authorities, giving loss of priceless documents to the city.

The record contained project details, development works, orders, issues and other valuable information regarding land, infrastructure and many other things related to different departments of KMC.

Sources from fire department told that the record room of KMC headquarters near Light House area had caught fire and it was controlled with the help of two fire tenders. The reason of fire could not be ascertained.

Sources told that only three city wardens were on duty when the incident happened as it was a day off. There was little chance of shot-circuit, because it usually happened when enough quantity of electricity was being used.

The journo, when tried to investigate the incident after visiting the room, was asked by city wardens to take a hike. A city warden forcefully escorted the journalist out of the vicinity of the building without letting the voice reach a high official, raising question over the behaviour.
