KMC prefers paying staff salaries: administrator

KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Saqib Ahmed Soomro on Monday said despite having financial problems employees’ salaries and pensions were being preferred in Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

“The KMC staff is now getting their salary on time,” he said while talking to a delegation of Sajjan Union led by its chairman Zulfiqar Shah at his office.

The union representatives said the sanitation staff was not paid overtime allowance; however, they should at least be given the annual honorarium which was already approved.

Soomro assured union representatives that all possible encouragement of staff especially laborer would be made in KMC. Efforts were on to pay their salaries on time and the measures taken in this connection had yielded positive results and the staff salary was being paid on time.

He said the problems of employees would be resolved once the resources were available; however, they could be given honorarium for additional work on gradual basis.
