KP govt says four months are needed to hold LB election under BM system

Peshawar: Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government on Tuesday said four months period would be required to hold local government election in the province under biometric system.

Senior minister for Local Government said that Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Government want to hold Local Government Election in three phases and its first phase would be possible in April next year.

Talking to various delegations, Inayatullah Khan said that provincial government has told the Supreme Court that four months would be required for holding Local Bodies Election under Bio Metric System upon which Supreme Court sought preparation report for the election on monthly basis.

Minister said that provincial government had quickly legislated and completed demarcation but the process is being delayed after Supreme Court’s decision to empower Election Commission for demarcation.

Thee Minister however clarified that provincial government would be ready to hold election as per instruction of the Supreme Court.
