Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced in next Annual Development program separate funds would be allocated for special sports persons. Advisor to Chief Minister on Sports, Culture and Tourism, Amjad Afridi, while addressing a function held in honour of disabled sportsmen selected for Asian Para Games, to be held from 18th to 24th October in Incheon, South Korea, said that government would facilitate special sports persons.
Advisor to chief minister said the government would mobilize all resources and funds to maximum facilitate and extend benefits to special persons, particularly sportsmen to boost up their moral and recognized them at international level.
He assured facilities for special persons would be available at Qayyum Sports Complex, and Hayatabad Sports Complex Peshawar, for this purpose, government would allocate separate funds in the ADP next financial year, he added.
The function held under auspicious of Paraplegic Centre Peshawar, was also attended by S.M Ilyas, Chief Officer of the centre, along with selected sportsmen, including Irfanullah, Altaf Rehman and Asadullah.
Ilyas said four sportsmen trained by his centre have been selected for the Asian Para Games adding that their aim to train special person and give them recognition at global level.
The Chief Officer said government has been allocating hand some funds for normal sport persons but it failed to provide sufficient funds for disabled sportsmen. He said the Centre would try to bear all expense of the four sportsmen, representing Pakistan in the South Asian Para games.
