KU surroundings need facelift

Karachi: Universities in whole world are well-known for the beauty and immaculate cleanliness of their surroundings and the varsity and city administrations give special attention to clean and beautiful the shrouding of their universities. However, this principle is not being followed in the case of Karachi University, who posses dirtiest and filthy surroundings due to sheer neglect.

A spacious plot just opposite the KU Silver Jubilee Gate on the opposite track of University Road from the University Marriage Lawn to KU Botanical Garden depicts a sorry picture due to heaps of garbage, debris and filth, besides ugly and overgrown bushes. The student, teachers, parent and visitors of the campus see this shameful neglect sorrowfully. Besides hundreds of thousands of commuters and motorists, using this road, also witness this lack of civic sense in the Karachi University and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town officers.

Both print and electronic media have run detailed stories on this issue but the KU bosses including its VC seem unmoved. It is hoped that the matter could resolved and this varsity plot could be cleaned of garbage and bushes and may be used as parking lot or playground, or a nursery, if the governor of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, who is the chancellor of KU takes notice of this sorry situation.

The KU can use this vacant plot as a theme park for its students, like many other prestigious universities of the world do to educate and entertain their students.
