KARACHI: A meeting of the KUJ Flat Committee was held under the chairmanship of KUJ Vice President and committee chairman Zaheer Ahmed Khan. Those present at the meeting included committee members Ataullah Zaki Abro, Akhgar Anwar Awan, Aazam Zohrani and Shafi Baloch. Later the members of the committee, led by KUJ General Secretary, Wajid Raza Isfahani, visited the KUJ flats project site near Defence Phase-VIII. Isfahani informed the committee that the KUJ had already paid over Rs 13.5 crore as the cost of the land to the Sindh Revenue Department, and had completed other formalities with regard to title of the land.
During the meeting of the committee, relevant issues were discussed and important decisions are expected in a few days with regard to KUJ flat project. The committee members would shortly meet the builder of the project and prominent businessman and stock broker Aqeel Karim Dhedhi. It would be the second meeting of the committee with the builder during which important issues are expected to be deliberated upon. During an earlier meeting with the project Aqeel Karim Dhedi had informed the delegation that he was ready to provide Rs100 million for the project while another Rs400 million would be arranged as interest-free loan. Another Rs2bn would be arranged by him from other sources.
He said he wanted to complete the project within three years. The residential project’s piling work would take six months while the entire project would be completed in 36 months. He said that in view of the large number of journalists and for provision of open space to the project, the building would be 22-storey.
