Karachi: Late Ismail Jaffer Cricket Club defeated Sun Cricket Club by six wickets while Qasba Sports thrashed Golden Gymkhana by nine wickets to secure their place in the semifinals of KCCA Zone VI ‘B’ Division League Cricket Tournament here Thursday.
In the match played at Afza Cricket Ground, Sun Cricket Club batted first and put on board 248 runs before losing all of their wickets in 33.1 overs. Atta-ur-Rehman (56 runs) and Subhanallah (50 runs) batted well for the side. Adnan Khatak bowled lethally and captured a five-wicket haul. Usman Shah also bowled well and took three wickets.
Late Ismail Jaffer Cricket Club in response easily achieved the target in 28.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Hamza Khan (65 runs), Arslan Wasim (61 runs) and Abdul Rehman (53 runs) batted well for the victors in the match.
In another match played at Sakhi Hasan Gymkhana Ground, Golden Gymkhana batted first and scored a paltry total of 103 runs before losing all of their wickets in 24.3 overs. Junaid Zubair top scored for the side with 31 runs. Saeedullah captured four wickets.
Qasba Sports in their turn easily achieved the target in only 8.5 overs with Nabi Zaman playing an unbeaten and explosive 70-run knock with the help of 12 boundaries and two sixes.
