LEW affectees reach SHC to get compensation

KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Tuesday issued notices to commissioner Karachi, project director of Lyari Express Way, Additional Attorney General Sindh and others respondents on the several petitions, seeking compensation of land used for completion of the project.

The residents of Mianwali Colony, Old Golimar, Saeed-ur-Rehman, Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Ghulam Murtaza Khan, Fazl-e-Huq and Mohammad Naeem moved the court against the notices issued to them for evacuating their houses, lying within the ambit of project’s land.

Citing commissioner Karachi, project director of Lyari Express Way, Secretary local government, Sindh Katchi Abadies Authority as respondents, the petitioners requested the court to direct the respondents not to demolish their houses, or give them compensation for their lands.

They requested to direct the respondent to pay the cost of their land as well as estimated construction amount in accordance with current value, which becomes Rs 2,500,000 for each house.

After initial hearing SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat issued notices to AAG as well as other respondents to file the comments on 15th October 2015.
