ISLAMABAD: Filing of nomination papers for the second phase of local government (LG) elections in Punjab and Sindh began on Sunday.
According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the nomination papers can be filed till the 17th of this month. Scrutiny will be held from 26th of this month to 1st of next month.
Last date for filing of appeals against acceptance or rejections of nomination papers is the 6th of the next month. Appeals will be disposed of on the 12th, and candidates can withdraw their papers upto 13th of the next month.
Final list of candidates will be published along with election symbols on the 14th of next month. Polling will be held on 19th of November this year.
In Punjab, local government elections in the 2nd phase will be held in Khanewal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Attock and Jhelum districts.
In Sindh, elections will be held in districts Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot and Tharparkar.
