Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Inayatullah Khan while giving assurance to European Union delegation has said that the provincial government is committed to launch district governance community development project as soon as possible and the government has already allocated Rs. 500 million as government share in this regard and will increase its share upto matching level with the passage of time.
He was presiding over a meeting with European Union delegation at Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Tuesday which was also attended by Finance Minister, Muzaffar Said, Section Head of European Union, Benoist Bazin and other concerned officers.
It is pertinent to note that the provincial government will start this project with financial cooperation of European Union in six district of Malakand Division included Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Swat, Shangla, Chitral and Malakand in January 2015. The European Union will provide Rs. 64 million Euro while the provincial government has already allocated Rs. 500 million for this project.
Inayatullah said that this will be a best and role model project in future and on completion it will help in poverty alleviation of people of Malakand Division. He said that the people of Malakand Division is already aware of the procedure and modalities of community driven projects and they will fully cooperate in this regard.
He said that the provincial government was evolving planning to utilize their funds through community in future in order to ensure just utilization of funds and stop ways of corruption and commission.
Minister Local Government insisted the delegation of earliest implementation of this project. European Union delegation promised to release first tranch of Rs. 9 million Euro as per commitment made in finance agreement as soon as possible. He also directed the concerned quarters to arrange follow up and review a meeting regularly in this regard.
