Lyariites protest against extortionists

KARACHI: Residents of Lyari staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday outside Sindh Assembly Building against the rising extortion money cases and deteriorating law and order situation in their area.

A large number of residents, including traders and children, took part in the protest, carrying placards and raising slogans against law enforcement agencies.

The protest was led by Lyari elder persons Haji Jaleel, Rehmani Baba and Faisal Baloch. They said that no person is safe in Lyari as even women were also being targeted every day. The teenager boy come to their shops and demand high amount of extortion money from them, and if any shopkeeper resists, they show a handgrenade besides issuing threats of dire consequences.

The residents of Lyari appealed to Director General (DG) Rangers, IGP Sindh and others higher authorities to take notice of law and order situation of Lyari and provide them peaceful atmosphere.
