Man gets one-year term in weapons case

KARACHI: An Additional District & Session Court Central awarded one-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 to convict, Hidayatullah, in illegal weapons possession case.

The accused, Hidayatullah, was found guilty of carrying weapons without license within the limits of New Karachi Industrial Area police station in 2014.

The Judge, Faiz Mohammad Bhatti, pronounced the verdict after recording the evidences, statements of witnesses and hearing the arguments from both sides. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. The convict will have to undergo an additional one-month imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested on 14 March 2014 within the jurisdiction of New Karachi Industrial Area police station. The police had claimed seizing illegal weapons from the possession of the accused.
