Medical facilities barred to KDA employees

KARACHI: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) employees held a protest in front of the administrator Karachi’s room at Civic Centre on Thursday against non-payment of bills by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for their medical facilities.

They told that KMC had been indebted Rs750 million to the private hospitals as it did not give money for so long. Consequently, the medical facility for the employees had been halted for more than a month by the hospitals.

“We have some heart patients, cancer patients and other patients having deadly diseases. Who will be responsible if they die? We have to bear payment of utility bills, educational institutes fees and other household expenditures. It becomes difficult to make both ends meet for lower staff and without medical facility it will be impossible,” they said.

Sources told that the administrator Karachi and advisor finance KMC were demanding 10 percent from the hospital administrations out of the bills; therefore they had stopped providing the facilities.
